THEY SAID IT ON THE AIR, ON THE RADIO

Just a quick update cuz I know people are all but jumping out of their skin for the studio versions of all this year's MF songs...

Rix FM seems to be working most of them into their playlist as of today (I've already heard Sibel, Char, Christer and Ola).

It's not the same as owning them and being able to obsessively play them over and over, but it's a start.

:-)

Fantastic news on some of those counts, but...

...Christer? Really? Oh well--I get the feeling complaining about it is kind of pointless (and maybe overdone) at this point. It's not a song I would have expected to get real radio play, though.

Don't forget Poster Girl - a lot of oddballs in Sweden still sell out huge concert halls to hear lots of traditional schlager like this.

Unbeliveable as it sounds.

I was a little surprised about it, too, though I tend to listen to the Svenska Favoriter station on the Rix site, which is, like, the greatest schlager hits of the 70's, 80's, 90's and today, so it makes SOME sense. It's just odd to hear, like, Magnus Uggla, EMD, Sanna's MF stuff then Christer.

It's very One of These Things Is Not Like the Other.

But, hey, they're playing ALL the MF stuff now, so if I have to sit through three minutes of Christer, so be it.

I love "svenska favoriter, hundra en komma nio" as well, jaker. It was like a crash course in schlager when I first became obsessed and now it's like an old friend.

Ha! It's what gets me through most work days, actually. My Estonian co-worker, who lived in Vasteras for a bunch of years, thinks it's hysterical when I sing along with the jingle.

:-P

When I was a NYer I had an Estonian manager at Pat Field's old store on 8th Street and I used to make her talk to me in Estonian. Interesting language, sounds vaguely Hungarian...

Oh my god! The store on 8th! Where Amanda Lepore would sit on a little stool out front and harass tourists...!

Hee!

She scared the piss out of my little brother there one day...

Most of the scary people in NY and LA from the Studio 54/Warhol era to today, and I've had my dealings with them...

Good old Svenska Favoriter, the station I listened to more than any other whilst on holiday in Stockholm last year. Aah, memories of all-"Cara Mia", all the time :)

'whilst on holiday'...

You don't know the days it just gets me through WORK!
